"We stand together to pay respect to our flag,” said Mayor Michael B. Coleman. “We owe a great deal of gratitude to those brave men and women who serve our country, their strong families and our community.”

“As a veteran, I am keenly aware of what our flag stands for, both at home and abroad,” said Councilmember Hearcel F. Craig, who served in the U. S. Army from 1970-72. “I look forward to this ceremony and joining with Columbus residents to honor one of our most visible symbols of freedom.”

“We as a nation have honored the flag since 1877. I understand the sacrifices that have been made for this flag to fly high as a symbol of our Nation and I am proud that we live in a City that honors her every year,” said Fred Yates, Director of the Equal Business Opportunity Commission Office and Chair of the City’s Veterans Committee.
